Job Description:

This position will report to the Senior Vice President of Product Development. This individual will be responsible for development of advanced power supply (Driver electronics) systems for Soraa’s lighting product portfolio. These driver solutions will utilize a combination of analog and digital circuitry, along with firmware operating systems to provide state of the art solutions for both stand-alone and integrated products, including products with the Internet of Things (IOT) capabilities.

Specific Function:

  • Develop Driver Electronics roadmap, which complements and supports Lamp and Luminaire system roadmaps.
  • Intent is to provide a path for lowering costs on mature products and increase system capabilities of new generation of products from the previous generation.
  • Function as a system architect for specific driver solutions on the roadmap.
  • Lead design effort integrating hardware and software capabilities to meet specification requirements.
  • Manage technology evaluation and JDA programs with vendor partners

Experience and Skills:

Experience and Skills:

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering. An additional degree in engineering or software development is preferred.
  • Experience programming Microchip PIC16 assembly language
  • Experience with embedded C and the MPLAB X toolchain
  • Experience with realtime DSP programming
  • Experience debugging high voltage, mixed signal circuits
  • Experience with closed loop digital feedback control systems
  • Strong understanding of AC power systems, including theory and variations of phase-cut dimming.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in product design/development, including a proven track record of system debugging and code optimization and patents issued.
  • Familiarity with the lighting industry, e.g. lamps, lighting products, colorimetry will be an asset
  • Experience in technology hand-off to CM partners (OEM & ODM)
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in a matrix management environment as senior principal contributor
  • Ability to develop and coach other team members
